Abstract:
Commissioned on February 18, 1955, the Special Committee on the Reorganization of the Board of Trustees was established to explore various methods of university reorganization. Its deliberations led to the official establishment of Rutgers as the State University of New Jersey in 1956, as well as the establishment of the Board of Governors.
