This collection documents the life of Phoebe Jacobs and her longtime position as Executive Vice President and Director of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation. The collection contains VHS tapes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, one instantaneous disk, and a name tag. The collection also includes personal correspondence with various jazz musicians and professional correspondence related to her work with the Jazz Foundation of America.

The majority of the prints are black-and-white and include candid, performance, and portrait shots of performers including Barry Altshul, Joe Beck, Oliver Beener, Randy Brecker, Randy Weston, Joanne Brackeen, Dave Burrell, and Pee Wee Erwin. The collection also contains photographic contact sheets and twenty-two wood mounted prints.

The audio recordings include interviews and performances from a 1974 musical gathering at the Mutual Musicians Foundation and a concert by the Count Basie Orchestra at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
